Precisely one year ago, the kids and I were camping near Lake Louise. The excitement was we were out at the time of the Perseid meteor shower. I got to keep my kids up until after midnight with the three of us staring up as the meteors came down. To see their eyes light up with the opportunity to stay up way past bedtime was cool to itself. It became an entirely different magic to see their eyes flare up the moment a Perseid flared directly overhead framed between lodgepole pines.
